Tinting
Tint for Myvi, Saga, City, Bezza and Alza
Short answer. Price differences between these models come down to total glass area and rear windscreen shape. A Myvi or Saga uses less film than an Alza. Compound rear windscreens take longer to heat-shrink. The film choice itself doesn't change by model — ceramic is the recommendation across all of them in this climate.
What changes between models
Glass area is the main variable. An Alza or other seven-seater has considerably more glass than a Myvi, so it uses more film and takes longer.
Rear windscreen curvature is the second. A steeply curved rear screen needs more heat-shrinking to lie flat, which is skilled time.
Quarter glass and small fixed panes add fiddly work on some models without adding much film.
Model notes
Perodua Myvi and Proton Saga — compact glass area, quick jobs, at the lower end of any price range.
Perodua Bezza and Honda City — saloon layout with a separate boot, so the rear windscreen is smaller and more steeply raked than a hatchback's.
Perodua Alza and similar MPVs — most glass, longest job, highest film usage. Also the models where rear-passenger heat complaints are most common, which makes rear glass film worth prioritising.
What doesn't change
The legal limits are the same for every private car: 70% windscreen, 50% front sides, no limit on rear glass.
And the film recommendation doesn't change by badge. Ceramic in this climate, carbon if the budget is tight, dyed only if the car is being sold soon.
Frequently asked questions
Does tinting a Myvi cost less than an Alza?
Yes. Less glass area means less film and less time, so compact cars sit at the lower end of any quoted range.
Do MPVs need different film?
Same film types apply. More glass means more film, and rear-passenger comfort makes rear glass film more worthwhile.
Is there a model where tinting is harder?
Cars with steeply curved rear windscreens take longer, since the film must be heat-shrunk to the curve before application.
Can you tint quarter glass and small panes?
Yes — they're fiddly rather than difficult, and included in a full-car job.
